Really Simple Syndication (RSS): it sounds so...simple. Yet for most marketers, RSS is a source of major confusion. With everyone from the Wall Street Journal to Purina to Continental Airlines using RSS as a new way to communicate information to key audiences, perhaps it’s time you took a look at what it can do for your organization.

In this lively, 45-minute online presentation, marketer extraordinaire Janet Johnson and RSS expert Jon Maroney will explore RSS from a business perspective, giving attendees a better understanding of:

  • What RSS is and how it works
  • The business benefits of using RSS
  • How RSS relates to other activities, such as blogging
  • How to get started

...and Janet and Jon even promise to keep the buzzwords and techno-babble to a minimum. All registrants will also automatically receive a complimentary copy of Marqui’s new whitepaper “RSS Rx: A Prescription for Your Business” immediately following the event.

Presented by
Janet Johnson, VP of Communications, Marqui, Inc.

Responsible for creating and managing Marqui's marketing communications and public relations strategy, Janet brings (way too many) years of experience in the software, Internet and telecommunications industries to Marqui.

Janet was Vice President, Corporate Communications at Merant, now Serena Software. She also led marketing communications efforts at Enron Broadband Services (EBS), successfully managing integrated marketing campaigns. (None of the shenanigans there were within her realm of influence – and she's happy that she was never called to testify.) Prior to Enron, Janet handled marketing communications for eFusion, an Internet startup. She spent seven years at Now Software, where she drove millions in online sales in the early days of the Internet. She also held business development and sales positions for Apple Computer at PacTel InfoSystems (now SBC), where she and her teams continually exceeded sales goals.

Janet studied psychology and political science at Western Washington University, but couldn't figure out what to do with that, so technology seemed an easy leap. She handled the firestorm ethical debates about paying bloggers to blog about Marqui, and remains an enthusiastic blogger herself - thick skin, grey hair and all.

Jon Maroney, President, FreeRange Communications

As president of FreeRange, Jon oversees the day-to-day operations of the company as well as the strategic development of the company's products. Prior to founding FreeRange, Jon spent 12 years in the software industry, running marketing and product marketing at Extensis, a maker of software for graphic professionals and publishers (Suitcase and Portfolio), and as Director of Product Marketing and Channel Sales at Dantz Development, maker of backup software Retrospect. Jon is a member of the Board of Directors of Beam Dynamics. He has a BA from Boston University.
